Priorisiert dieser Richter die Zukunft des Vergewaltigers vor dem Trauma des Opfers und der Sicherheit anderer Frauen?
Versucht diese Art von Urteil oft? Ich versuche wirklich zu verstehen.

Rape is definitely not taken as seriously as it should imo. But let’s not act like this is only an issue in Belgium. A lot of (Western) countries are quite lenient.

I’m sure the raped vicitm is still in shock and by not letting the criminal be charged, she probably thinks she will have a better time healing.
But that will backfire for sure.

So yes, I totally agree with you that this is an incredibly light slap on the wrist for a person that will have a job where ethics should be sky-fucking-high. But apparently even the victim is satisfied with this outcome, somehow?

And it’s a judge problem. The laws allow for much stricter punishment, but judges seem give people way too many chances for some reason… I get there is no need to completely ruin someone’s life for a misstep. But rape (very likely aided by the use of narcotics), isn’t a misstep anymore. And not allowing someone to become a doctor isn’t ruining their life.
Just look at the entire reuzegom situation and decice for yourself whether we have a class difference here or not.
If you’re wealthy or influencial enough you get away with literally anything, including rape. Tale as old as time.
A combination of leniency (which is an international problem: in the West punishments are too low, in other regions the definition of SA/rape is much more narrow and everywhere actual arrest rate is abysmal) and good old classism which has been shown to still be very much a thing in our country.
In this particular case the VICTIM ASKED THE JUDGE to not give him a punishment, as she mainly wanted recognition and guilt that it happened, not ruin his life.
However, in many rape cases the punishment is in no way enough in my opinion , and the justice system in general is a joke, ever since M.D did his shit and the police reforms, nothing has changed unfortunately: the case of Santa Dia and Van Espen are painful examples of this today.
Another example: buddy of mine drank too much, drive home drunk and did a hit and run on a dead biker. Sentence? A year in prison. His ACTUAL punishment? 9 months with a ankle brace, because new laws state any >5 year sentence isnt mandated because overpopulation of prisons
