Did the FTS destroy it or did it fall back and explode on impact with the ground? It didn’t look like it had gone too far horizontally so I’d be slightly worried for their ground equipment if it hit the ground

Very much like the first ABL test in Alaska. Waiting for a report on damage to GSE

    3. As long as they keep testing them in mainland Europe before coming to French Guyana. I am ok with it.

What I don’t understand is why they didn’t have an aggressive FTS similar to the one SpaceX had on their early prototype launches; when those rockets lost control, the FTS turned them into confetti in mid air rather than just shutting down the engines and letting the thing fall.

    6. Maybe they should try it with the pointy end up, and the flamey end down next time.

Previous article said they’d be happy with a 30 second flight so looks like they met that benchmark. Lots of learning here I’m sure. The trick is not to repeat it.

    8. From their twitter:

„The launch vehicle was terminated after approx. 30 seconds in flight, and the vehicle fell directly into the sea. The launch pad seems to be intact.“

      I don’t know about that
