      It‘s the Middle East that we are talking about. It‘s basically from one backward dictatorship to another. Secular or islamic.

    4. IMO comparisons to Syria are unwarranted. Iran suffered a lot of defeats last year, but their situation is nowhere comparable to Syria’s. Syria had been ina decade long civil war, with non-state controlled armies in charge in different parts of the country. In other words there was a clear enemy to take over the moment Assad lost support. You don’t have anything comparable in Iran. So I think their strategic position in the Middle East will suffer, but they are nowhere near as close to a collapse as Syria was.
