    The remaining technical challenges involve integrating Cyprus’ police system with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s system and ensuring regular security checks in passport and ID card printing areas. These final adjustments are expected to be completed within weeks, paving the way for Cyprus to become the next country to join the Visa Waiver Program.

    A cornerstone of the agreement involves security cooperation between the two nations. The ratified agreements focus on:

    1. Enhancing cooperation in combating terrorism and serious crime
    2. Establishing systems for the exchange of travel information and passenger data
    3. Creating frameworks for risk assessment of individuals potentially involved in terrorist acts
