Ltd., in partnership with Cambodia’s General Department of Materials and Technology, has begun developing the C-01 industrial park near Phnom Penh, a move that strengthens China’s defense presence in the country. Cambodian Defense Minister Tea Seiha presided over the March 10 groundbreaking ceremony in Kandal province, where the 132-hectare park will feature a dry port, industrial and commercial zones, and worker accommodations. The project’s total investment remains undisclosed, and its full scope is unclear, though sources suggest defense-related industries may be involved. RFA’s open-source research linked the company to drone production, raising concerns about its military ties. China, Cambodia’s largest foreign investor, has poured $9 billion into half of the country’s 2,300 industrial factories.
