Cos as far as I know, gay rights stuff has been overdone in education, to the extent where today:s kids don’t know if they’re coming or going….at least this is where we were 5-6 years ago, and I don’t believe that they have scaled back anything.
While you are free to have the sexuality you like, if you start rubbing it in my face, then, yes, you should be stopped, whether you are gay, straight, or in love with a chair.
The police in Malta are homophobic and racist. So in this case, it was bound to happen. Malta’s laws are awesome on paper for the LGBTQ+ community but in practice it’s a whole other story and, if you complain, they laugh in your face.
It’s question of “compare to what”… my US based LGBTQ friends and relatives, never had anything but positive experiences on Malta… but I am sure, there are few bigots around here… probably more than in some other EU countries.
These articles are always one side of the story. Highly doubt a simple normal kiss was the issue here.
No one cares what you do in your private life, just keep it to yourself.
Meanwhile, in the USA several states are drafting laws to retroactively ban gay marriage and annul any existing gay marriages.

Before jumping to conclusions—police once stopped me from French kissing my girlfriend at the airport because kids might see us! They told me to get a room… but I was bloody going away for six months!
Do the rights of married gay couples generally get honored with no problem? Ex. hospital visits, property ownership, etc?
If we are to believe only what we read here, it sounds like an anomaly and abuse of power to me.
