It’s pretty basic economics.
What to you think when you hear the pretty popular idea that „foreigners are a problem for Cyprus economy“?

I’m glad they are happy seeing numbers going up, but does anyone care about the social consequences or even the sidelined economic ones? „Progressives“ suddenly love capital servitude when it helps them push their narrative.

Seeing some numbers on a screen go up will not help the eventual societal consequences down the line. This article essentially reads „We hired foreign slaves to do our work for us now we’re more economically powerful“, like, does this even matter?
The article says most of these are „Latin American“ foreigners, that’s essentially saying „Foreigners from Greece came to work in Cyprus and have boosted the economy“, because the people coming there are already familiar with Spanish and Latin culture, already speak the language and practice the same religion. It’s not the thousands of Pakistani, Indian, Somalian people, etc that come that make the difference, it’s the people who actually assimilate to the local culture.
