Sadly they understand Social Media Propaganda better and Target Young Voters.

But I hope the other Parties learn from that.

    2. It’s easy.

Media realized rightwing populism and spreading extremist views is generating clicks, sells and traffic aka money.

      „Krise kann auch geil sein“

The rise of AfD is not a matter of how something was communicated or portrait in media (either the policies of the established parties badly or the ones of AfD better) – it is just a reaction to reality with declining safety, unlimited uncontrolled illegal immigration, shrinking economy, demographic collaps, war mongering, high tax rates etc. People don’t want more of that.

How naive is it to think people don’t see all that, draw their conclusions and vote accordingly – and rather claim it’s „how the media presents them“. That is a superficial part of it at best.

    4. It’s hard not to see parallels to the rise of similar ideologies in the US. It’s probably dumb, but I hope people in Germany learn from the shit show happening in the US and take actions to avoid it. Whether that means actually addressing people’s concerns in a meaningful way or regulating how things are communicated, idk.

    5. This article conveniently ignores how not only rightwing but also leftwing extremists profited from social media misinformation campaigns leading to the election.

The rise of both can be tracked back to central parties and (state-funded) media outlets just denying the existence of any problems (therefore misinformation as well) in the country, causing a massive rift between what people experience (rise in violence, rents, inflation, stagnating wages, etc.) and the picture parties and traditional media try to paint.

It appears the point that people struggle to grasp that this isn’t a case of good vs bad, in which you identify one side lying and/or spreading misinformation and therefore the other side telling the truth, but both sides lying for their own advantage.
