Tensions between the Trump administration and the Ukrainian government had been escalating behind the scenes for the past week before they fully erupted into public view Wednesday.
From President Donald Trump’s perspective, Zelenskyy was showing resistance to what Trump views as reasonable asks of a country the United States has set up to receive more than $75 billion in military aid. He found Zelenskyy in no rush to make some compromises that U.S. and European officials have long conceded in private would be required in a peace deal. And he grew incensed over Ukraine’s public complaints about being excluded from talks between the United States and Russia about ending the war after Zelenskyy met several times with some of Trump’s top advisers.
This article is based on interviews with more than a dozen U.S. and European officials and other people with knowledge of private meetings and discussions between and within the Trump administration and the Ukrainian government.

It really is a huge loss when you consider the collapse of US Education. I never saw it that bad in Blue states (CO, OR, MA, RI) but it was readily apparent in many Red states I visited or lived in (including my home state of TX).
So many people categorically misunderstand nearly EVERY part of the Government, which is indicative of how lax or unexamined people have been with their vigilance against Anti-Intellectualism. In some ways, I can’t blame people, after all, you specialize in a given field or area of knowledge, and are left with a gap in many other places (hence why you generally don’t ask a Surgeon to replace a transmission in a car) but at the same time, BROADENING your general knowledge was meant to enrich your worldview and bring a more compelling perspective to things. Every bit of info added is a boon, every skill added makes your potential and capabilities increase.
And yet, so many people have utterly tuned out American History, World History, Economics, Sociology, Geopolitics, Civics, Governance, and so on. It’s not compelling to them. Or they need to be fed that information from their preferred ‚demagogue‘ or ‚influencer‘.
Imagine for a second, a world where people understood budgeting and how military spending functions… it is without question that the MIC needs to be examined and reworked, BUT, playing merry hob with the whole thing (and letting a moron drive) will cause more damage than good.
It is not in any way being handled with competence and care. Our military obligations and alliances are being forfeit, collapsed or rendered ‚mud‘ because of realpolitik backstabbing. It’s embarrassing. */sigh/*
