    1. SS: More than 40% of Indians polled in a survey by India Today magazine think U.S. President Donald Trump’s second term will be favourable to their country.

Trump also enjoys a positive image among most supporters of Modi and his party, the “Mood of the Nation” survey showed, and only 16% of those polled felt he would be bad or disastrous for India. The balance of those surveyed saw Trump as having no impact on the country either way.

“There is a classical division on the left and right, and you find that supporters of Modi, of Trump, they tend to ally,” said Yashwant Deshmukh, a psephologist with CVoter, the agency that conducted the poll, on the India Today news channel.

India Today’s biannual poll is one of the few to gauge the mood of Indians on a broad range of political issues and is tracked widely.

Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lost its majority for the first time in ten years in general elections last year and relied on alliance partners to form a government.

It probably wouldn’t make a difference. We all live in indentured servitude anyway.

Trump’s policy is himself over anything else in the world. Anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional.
Only reason why Trump was not harsher is because Modi kissed the ring.

Trump is someone India can understand more than any other president before. He is transparently transactional. He can be played as much he toys with the rest of the world.

India isn’t new to this game and have managed to maintain a fine line between the various blocks. There is strategic alignment thats far more fundamental than any political dispensation on either end.

And at a personal level trump envies or admires or wants to emulate Modi’s popularity and political longevity. There is enough spark for modi to play ball and keep things more or less favorable. This has played out already in some ways.

What Indians can’t stand is grandstanding. Transactional? that India knows well.

    5. Indians. Don’t revert to loving the colonizer. Remember how that went last time.
