As battles rage in the North African country, a network of communal kitchens has had to immediately stop most of its operations due to a lack of funding, about 75% of which came from the [U.S. Agency for International Development](https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/elon-musk-says-trump-are-shutting-usaid-rcna190388) (USAID), according to their organizers.  

Without the American funding “a lot of people will die because of hunger,” Abuzar Osman Suliman, the coordinator of the ERRs in Sudan’s western Darfur region, told NBC News on Friday.

Suliman, who said it cost $10,000 for a single kitchen in Darfur to feed 250 families for two weeks, gave a 10 to 20 day window for people to start dying. 

I am curious why Europeans aren’t stepping up? Or, the oil rich Arab countries? Or, wealthy Asian countries?

I’m skeptical of these reports because Marco Rubio said specifically that he would exempt life saving programs under a waiver. And this program clearly fits under the waiver. I am not sure whether these waivers have been granted but if they are still in review we can’t automatically conclude that these people will die.

Haiti is more under attack because Trump has blocked both food aid, aid to fund a peacekeeping missions. in fact, Haiti is officially in the era of the warlords
