      1. CATL recently put our a [1,000,000 warranty for a battery for trucks](https://electrek.co/2024/04/03/catl-launches-new-ev-battery-last-1-million-miles-15-yrs/).
      2. CATL [battery cell pricing has fallen significantly since last July, 40-50%](https://cnevpost.com/2024/01/17/battery-price-war-catl-byd-costs-down/), and is expected to fall another 30-50% by this summer.

Now, with this battery pack, we’re seeing for the first time a battery that doesn’t degrade for a LONG time, is coming in at a muhc higher energy density, and a much lower component costs. The costs per unit will fall double speed though because the density will mean balance of system supporting the battery cells will stay the same, but have more battery capacity. SImiliar to solar panels increasing in effieicny so much.

Personally, I think this is the first of the next generation of utility scale storage that will change things.

Would be nice to get these into hybrid diesel electric locomotives! They are definitely going in the right direction.. but in order to pull 12,000 tons of freight hundreds of miles uphill.. they are going to need more density.

    3. Grid scale battery storage is going to increase massively in the next few years. Not convinced it will be Li ion based but it’s certainly one of the options.
