SS: India has reduced its peak customs duty from 150% to 70% in an effort to improve its global trade image, especially amidst criticism from former U.S. President Donald Trump, who labeled India a „tariff abuser.“ The revised tariff structure eliminates several high-duty slabs and lowers rates on key U.S. exports such as crude petroleum, coking coal, aeroplanes, and liquefied natural gas, which now face minimal import duties between 0% and 7.5%. Indian officials have prepared a fact-sheet to clarify these tariff reductions to U.S. diplomats. The government emphasizes that these changes reflect an independent effort to rationalize duties and position India as a competitive trade partner.

India is going to come out ahead, end of story. Their major rival Pakistan is facing huge crisis among its puppet faction. They have taken advantage of Russia’s position. The EU is too disorganized to oppose India. China has bigger issues internally and politically. The US is shooting itself in the foot. And all of the lesser powers are in huge decline, like Korea and Japan who simply cannot outcompete the future potential.

Where they will go, I do not know. They have been dancing on the edge for a while and trying to navigate local politics is difficult on a good day.
