Exoumen megalo provlima stin kupro and nobody is doing anything about it.

We have our „kopela“, she comes for a few hours on Sunday and we pay her ten times what she’s supposed to make. Her every-day normal salary is literally nothing.

The minimum wage for them is egregious. It’s racist.

It’s true that it’s a low salary compared to the work involved, but calculating an hourly wage like that isn’t entirely fair. The person hired will have their accommodation, meals, and laundry provided. If they had to cover those expenses on their own, they wouldn’t manage with less than €700 per month for rent, electricity, water, internet bills, food, etc. So, in the end, it’s more like a salary of €1,050–1,100.

I mean, to be fair it doesnt sound so bad, they have their own room, they will be fed, and as it says all expenses will are paid.

  4. The key part about the concept of „slavery“ is that it wasn’t optional.

  5. Guys keep in mind these arrangements include full board, clothing and insured healthcare. A very good setup for saving for someone for whom this would be impossible. Plus some semblance of EU rights I guess (no kafala system)

  6. The government plans says minimum should be 500( around dont remember exact price) and housing or 900 without housing. So it seems they count housing as 400. And yes calculating hours is silly, you intentionally left out housing calculations to make it seem worse than it is, its literally 100 euro under market minimum. Its bad but slavery? Nah

  7. Some people genuinely don’t understand how desperate some other people are. For many this might be an only option. This is terrible. It shouldn’t even be allowed. I mean it isn’t anyway, unless this is pure salary, without housing expenses included.
