Just talk. Where would all these health professionals come from? They don’t grow on trees?

Reading between the lines, by increasing “work/life balance” and “improving the status”, the plan is to incite more healthcare professionals to live in Luxembourg, solving the problem of crossborder dependency.

It won’t change much with what’s being discussed. If the government really wanted to change something they would talk about tax reliefs, housing as part of compensation, etc. for those professionals. Something more substantial than career development, or work-life balance that will actually give them more time to commute…

    4. There is only one solution to the dependency problem (across sectors) and that’s realigning the gap between public and private sector pay so that private sector careers (and I include a career as a nurse in that regard) become more attractive to the local population. But this implies picking a big fight with CGFP and public service employees which represent a large share of the electorate.

    5. When it comes to nurses and other profession that tend to have a shift system not aligned with everyone else’s working hours, it becomes very difficult to have them move here with „shorter commute“ as an advantage.

My aunt was a nurse in Differdange for 25 years. She was living in Thionville … Commute was perfect with a three shift system.

Unless they manage to motivate more lux citizen to pursue those carrers I don’t really see why that would work …
