Cyprus, an EU member, has trouble pushing Turkey out of its backyard. Turkey invaded Cyprus in the 1970s and *literally* claims half of the country.
If Armenia manages to become an EU member, the pressure on Turkey will most likely mount.
I wonder how the process will continue from then on though. Like ok, we pass the bill, Armenia officially announces its aspirations to join the EU. And then? We can’t sign the association agreement, and many experts have said that CEPA is already reaching its limits in terms of what we still can do, hence why Ararat Mirzoyan already had mentioned that Armenia and the EU work on a new Agreement last year.
We can’t leave the EAEU over night, which also means we can’t sign an association agreement with the EU until we are able to leave the EAEU, so what can we do now in terms of integration that will brings us closer to the union before we leave the EAEU?
