The reason why Finland gets such high praise from the English speaking media isn’t because the education standard in Finland is so good, it’s just really bad in the English speaking world.
In English speaking countries, such as the United States and the UK, education beyond reading, writing, and arithmetic is considered a luxury reserved for children of the monied classes. There has been a dumbing down of education standards across the Anglosphere for forty plus years and the dividends are rolling in now.
