Lasers from nye cause air pollution.

Jokes aside I think it has to do with lots of people using wood to warm up their house causing worse air quality. Combine that with the air condition now which keeps the smoke lower

Households use a lot of wood burning stoves for heating when it’s cold. Many of the stoves are more fashionable than efficient. Then, factor in dense cold air…

As a breathing enthusiast I know a thing or two about air pollution, having enough experience to unfortunately expect mass downplaying of any data like this.

So please, please, none of that. I’m here just to learn what is causing this extended pollution in this area of Norway from anyone who does have answers.

      >PM2.5 Annual 5 μg/m3

Over a year, average air pollution should not exceed 5 μg/m3.
You can imagine how much an extended period of ~60 μg/m3 impacts yearlong averages.

      Here’s a good Norwegian source:

I’m also a psychology enthusiast, so I welcome your rationalizations for downvoting this post to 20%.

Don’t live there so I can’t speak for the situation down in southern Norway specifically but I remember a time when the temperature got so cold any polluted air just sunk down to the ground instead of rising up as it usually does and it was very miserable for a few days… Like governments warning people with astma to stay inside miserable.

Also its the capital. Can’t imagine that helps.
      More people+more cars+cold+more wood stoves=more pollution.

    6. Foreigners posting Norway related news articles on this sub seem to mostly go for the ones that focus on the extremes, and then they seem to expect some sort of discussion or controversy. As if Norwegians werent already aware of these things themselves. I honestly dont get the point of people posting news articles in here – we all read the news, we all know whats happening, and most of us can do fuck all about any of it so whats the point in jabbering on about it?
