Democracy is just a dictatorship of the stupid.
Two things I always admired about the way the Swiss voted is that they understood, two critical things:
* Infrastructure is yes
* Free money is not free (and usually ends up being taken from *you*)
It was the only country in the world where you ask people *“wanna pay lower taxes?“*, they know that results are binding, and yet, vote „no“ 😀 Sad to see this slowly going away.

I voted „No“ in both Initiative. I’m really surprised the Swiss people accepted the 13. AHV Rente.
I hope everything is gonna be alright with the funding of the 13. AHV Rente. According to the supporters of this initiative, it’s not gonna be a problem to fund it. I hope so too, but I’m more sceptical and even afraid of the consequences of this law on the workers and young generation.
For me, this 13 pension will not solve the old-people poverty problem and it will have harsh consequences on the young and active generation. It’s anything but a b*itch move toward our generation of young workers.

Well the result of the AHV vote sucks because the retired people did obviously vote in their own interest and they don’t have to bear the burden of the associated costs (unless we get another VAT increase instead of Lohnabgaben).

The AHV increase is such an incredibly stupid idea. I am so disappointed in the left for supporting this that I think I will break with the left because of it.

Disappointed in the ahv result… The money should more directly go to those affected by age poverty and not just everyone, even those who don’t even need it.

Frankly still baffled by the lack of a counter proposal which included an increase to the minimal avs/avh rent: it could have been a more correct solution while minimizing the burden on the system.

When will people realize that mass pension institutions are essentially an enforced financial pyramid that just doesn’t scale anymore.
The Boomers who bought their 3 million CHF homes for 35k and who could comfortably support a whole family with a high school degree have spoken! Why not just give more money to the old people who actually need it, instead of to all of them, plenty of who are richer beyond imagination
A moment of silence for all the young immigrants who will contribute to fund the 13th AHV payments, didn’t get a chance to vote on it, and will be accused of being „the problem“ by the very people who are benefiting from this insane decision.

I have a real and candid question here : a big part of you, posters, are talking about the boomers, yada yada, and I get it… But… WHAT about people in their 40’s and 50’s ?!? We aren’t/weren’t more lucky than the young are right now… We neither have the pleasure of earning a lot of money or owning our flats, etc…
My generation is the first that had less chances and money than the previous one… We’re NOT in a roses/money paved route at all ! I have still +10 years to work, still no 3rd pillar (!!!), etc… And I’m far being the only one in that situation.
The polarization of „young vs. elder“ is not useful at all. We have to find solutions TOGETHER, because we all need them, in a near or farther future, but it about OUR future we’re talking about. Not only mine. OURS. And, once again, the opposition between generation is not the right way to do it, imho.
What a selfish decision was made today.
I completely understand the people who don’t get too much from the AVS voting yes, but for the rest of the population it is absolutely stupid.
In my opinion what we have seen today can be resumed like :
Boomer 2 : Oh Boomer 1, I’ve seen that if we vote yes we will be getting more money from the AVS.
Boomer 1 : Oh… I usually don’t vote and I don’t know shit about politics, but if I can earn a free 13 pension I will vote then.
Congrats, in a few years the median class will be poorer, the net salary will be lower, maybe the TVA will be get higher and the purchasing power will fall. This decision was not a smart move at all.

Imagine a generation just being able to vote to get more money from the state.
The result was to be expected. I don’t see why some media outlets are calling it a „sensation“, a „surprise“ or a „change in the mood of the population“.
It’s none of it.
The „trick“ of the initive is very simple: create a direct advantage for a big enough part of the population.
But it’s a total fantasy that the „mood of the population“ has changed towards more solidarity or something like this. It hasn’t. The votes from the burgeoise side of the sepctrum come simply from those people who now (or soon) get more money without having to pay for it somehow. The only solidarity is with their own bank account.
If the initiative would have addressed the problem of old-age poverty in a more targeted way, it probably barely would have gotten 40% yes.
As a young person I find it so disheartening. Boomer have ruined the country with wild policies focused on their short term benefit both in term of ecology and immigration. Now they want to place this huge burden on us.
Honestly considering if staying in Europe it’s even a good choice for young qualified professionals

We have been disappointed today as a young couple with a small baby. But this is also a sort of obvious consequence of direct democracy: a country where the population pyramid is inverted, was asked whether they want a minority to pay for a majority (anyone near 50 or above should vote yes in their own best interest). Add that until 18 you cannot vote, that youngsters are less likely to vote and you can easily understand why this passed. Also, it is true that many prices and costs increased dramatically (health insurance, gas, electricity… just to mention a few), so people realistically wish to do something to improve their condition and this vote gave them the chance. I also believe that the government was silly and acted fundamentally in an entitled manner by not proposing a counter project (like raising only minimum AHV); so the outcome was a strong yes. The government made a very bad assessment on the sentiment about this one.
Very curious to see the Parliament’s suggestion for its financing.
My parents with their house and fat pension from both working well paid jobs really need that 13th month…..
