Original work on my insta (@astro.demi). Behold… my Moon phase composition! The duration of the photos used stretches from exactly a month (11/6–12/6). I know the format looks a little unconventional but I think that’s my favorite part!

Disclaimer: There’s a lot that went into this process so buckle up! That being said, I apologize in advance if the explanation seems jumbled in any way. I want to make sure I mention my complete process while making it make sense. It’s simply just a lot of orientation shifting stuff besides the editing of the raw images.

Photographed with my Gskyer 90x600mm and my iPhone 14 for all of these shots! I wanted to keep these images equal in their appearance so I utilized the original raw shots for each and increased the sharpness and the definition at the same rate for them all. I composited the images in their positions on Procreate. That’s the only thing I did there for the horizontal shot. Waning phases are on the left and waxing is on the right! However, for the vertical shot I wanted to do more. I just turned the image (except the full moon component) 45 degrees, leaving the full moon shot in its original position for a cool wallpaper design! Hope this helped for anyone who wants to try this out with their own shots! 🙂

Looks great, but the crescents are on the wrong sides (of where they should be, as per the crater patterns)

    3. Looks really beautiful. In addition to the other comment here, the only thing I’d *personally* do is for the outside ones I’d use even thinner crescent shots to show more of a phase change. The outer 2 layers aren’t dramatically different than the inner 2, you just shrunk the size. But I do understand the way you did it to make the dark/light space flow really well. Nice work!
