Kandidat des Brüsseler Vlaams Belang wirbt auf persönlicher Website offen für Faschismus

>Emanuele Licari, a Brussels-Italian politician for Vlaams Belang in the city of Brussels, openly glorifies fascism on his personal website. This is what Brussels media magazine BRUZZ has discovered. The Vlaams Belanger is featuring in the upcoming municipal elections in place 8 on the list of Vlaams Belang for the City of Brussels.

>On the website Licari.be, which has since become inaccessible, the man posted various far-right opinions, standpoints, activities and ideas. This was done exclusively in French, according to BRUZZ. On Jan. 31, for example, Licari posed in front of a flag depicting the Roman „fasces,“ a bundle of rods that symbolized „power and authority“ during the Roman Empire in Classical Antiquity and was later appropriated by the founder of fascism Benito Mussolini as a symbol of ideology.

>In 1921, Mussolini founded the Partito Nazionale Fascista, with these „fasces“ becoming part of the party logo. Under the photo for the flag with ‚fasces‘ Licari posted the message, „Very nice meeting of the movement Nation and a wonderful speech by its president Yvan Benedetti. I also thank the friends of Casa Pound for kindly welcoming me to their spaces and for handing me a membership card,“ BRUZZ reported.

>Nation, of which Licari has been a member for decades, is a Belgian far-right party founded in 1999 by Hervé Van Laethem, a former military man who was once a member of the Brussels French-speaking branch of the now-banned VMO (Vlaamse Militanten Orde) and the neo-Nazi movement L’Assaut. Casa Pound is an Italian neofascist movement.

>In another post on his website, Licari talks about his time as president of the youth movement of the former Belgian party Front National, now renamed Démocratie National (DN) after the chairwoman of the then Front National from France (now Rassemblement National), Marine Le Pen, filed a complaint against the party. The party is chaired today by Marco Santi.
