74% of americans think they have privacy /now/ as they carry around a listening device all day/every day and the ads in their search results mysteriously match the conversation they just had nearby.
A recent U.S. YouGov survey discovered that 84% of respondents believe online privacy is a fundamental human right, and 74% believe AI is a potential threat to that right.
This survey about AI and privacy comes at an especially concerning time for a lot of people, who may feel alarmed about what powerful corporations or autocratic governments would do with their data.
Do you currently use AI, or do you avoid it? Do you feel concerned that your privacy may be violated and your data exploited while using AI tools? What are you currently doing to protect your privacy while making use of AI?
This is propaganda to make you believe privacy is the issue and not everyone loosing their job and being poor!
Yet people run to their favorite social media everytime they make a funny sneeze sound and document every intimate detail of their lives…but they want privacy? Maybe change your habits first, just saying.

I have begun to believe the only way to achieve any fundamental fairness between the mass of people and the corporations and governments will be radical transparency. Radical to the point that all data is available and open to everyone, and how any who it used is also open and visible to everyone.
There is almost zero chance it ever happens, but the alternative is that corporations and governments have all the data, use it for whatever they want and the people remain blissfully and willfully ignorant about how they’re being manipulated.
Patriot Act already did that. AI just makes it worse.
Funny do you realize how many cameras are trained on you daily? Didn’t a major company just buy Ancestry.com containing millions of catalogued DNA samples,privacy,you are tagged from birth,you wouldn’t believe how many life insurance policies there are on you by damn near everyone who you financially dealt with.
like others my initial reaction was “there’s no such thing as privacy to begin with”
but to extend this thought; AI will not destroy privacy but it will be incredibly good at parsing data that’s already been collected on us.
AI will destroy the internet, as the AI chatbots that flood Social Media in attempts advertise/ propagandize real humans, become more apparent to the average Social Media user. I’m certain humans will soon develop an extreme distrust for information they find on the internet and humans will revert to direct lines of communications and information sharing and avoid social media all together.
What happens when ai is indistinguishable from actual video and someone posts a video of you committing a murder?
