You will not be allowed to carry it in your carry-on.
It would have to go into your luggage or even better.. ship it.
A wooden practice sword is basically still a club.
Definitely not carry-on.
Forget laws about carrying weapons, i really doubt any airline will allow you to have something like that in your carry on.
A friend of mine had to leave his wooden practice sword at the airport. The airline did not want to transport it and told him, to throw it into the trash, or not fly. But the policed helped and stored it.
A while ago my spouse forgot that he had an arrangement of zip ties in a side pocket of his bag. Airport security did not like that at all, took it from us.
You can use zip ties to tie people up.
Wooden practice swords are assumingly perfect for hitting people in the head. Not really something security would be okay with.
Carry on luggage won’t happen. Checked in luggage could work, depending on dimensions. If box exceeds the maximum length (which every airline states) it’s considered bulk cargo. The fee for bulk cargo is high.
Carry on won’t work but depending on where the flight is to go he could try and register the sword as sports baggage – even without any extra charge if it fits the requirements as it would count as part of your free baggage. Best to check the airlines homepage
