„Human resource software company Lattice learned the hard way that employees are not quite ready to work alongside AI counterparts.
The tech unicorn—founded by Sam Altman’s brother Jack Altman and valued at $3 billion in 2022—announced it “made history” this week by giving so-called “digital workers” employee records and integrating them into organization charts, allowing its human coworkers to see the roles of AI in their workplace. After a surge of online pushback, the company said it would no longer pursue the project only three days after its initial announcement.
Lattice’s announcement was part of the company’s greater effort to integrate AI into the workplace in a “responsible” way, according to the company, which ostensibly meant treating the technology like a human hiree: training it, onboarding it, and even assigning it a manager.
There’s already mounting anxiety around the role of AI in the workplace, particularly as its use proliferates across industries. I hope when AI crosses that line it turns right around to go after all these tech execs first.
It “made history” because the idea was fucking stupid.
I hate people who want to give respect, humanity, or defference to robots. Robots are fucking trash, and — if you are to believe in the value of the sanctity of human life and human experiences — is worth nothing in comparison to a human.
The execs understood this was a stupid idea and couldn’t be met with anything except for backlash. Doubt they scrap the business of replacing humans with AI, though.
So long as a tax is to be paid for AI workers, which is then paid back to actual humans in the form of universal income, I’m all for it. But if its just to remove humans from the workplace and eliminate their jobs, that’s dumb.
If we don’t make money, how do we even buy your product?
The gag is they don’t believe in human rights, either.

When they have sentient AI on their hand, they need to worry about it. Currently AI is closer to a brick than a human in that regard.

Many companies are hesitant to adopt AI due to concerns about disrespecting their human workers, fearing job displacement and a lack of readiness for integration.
Remember kids: Every time you clear the chat history, you kill an AI.
The human value and moral system is a consequence of our innate biology. All of that goes out of the window when you are dealing with custom build AI workers, that are not constrained by biology in any way. Concepts like life and death become meaningless when you can spawn and clone new AI systems with a push of a button. Future AI systems will even be able to clone and modify themselves. Whatever they enjoy or not, is a product of how they were constructed. You can even build them without any kinds of feeling or self if you want to.
Trying to apply human values to AI is like pulling a fish out of the water because you think they might be drowning. You are not only not helping, you are completely failing to understand the situation.
What they were trying to do makes some sense, helps other staff frame the AI in terms of abilities. It makes mistakes just like humans do. It’s pretty much a very dumb intern.
Staff can delegate work accordingly, aware of their shortcomings, much like other staffs shortcomings.
WOW lattice is valued at 3B? That’s insane, it’s a feedback form for your peers, like a one-trick google form, but worse. Used it at work, not really amazing, peer feedback is mostly quid-pro-quo. Why would I bad-mouth my peers if they can do the same to me? I love their work and they love mine.
Also, fuck this AI shit and all these companies trying be. Relevant.

Substratism is a serious topic – and we can’t even get it right within our own species – but holy shit was this *hilariously* premature.
I’m happy with the reaction condemning this stupid initiative. As the saying goes „I want AI to do all the boring stuff so I can write poetry and paint pictures, not the other way around“. This is the same, you treat AI „workers“ like employees and real employees like $hit.
Granting full human rights to AIs IS NOT THE WAY .
So let’s keep our heads in the sand while jobs in every department get replaced by AI.

It’s not the self-aware AI of sci-fi. Which should be treated like any intelligent being.
Our „AI“ is just best guess emulated responses. Not intelligent or aware in any way.
They’re so fucking desperate to replace humans, they’re going to be so disappointed. It must be tough being that stupid, everything is probably super confusing and doesn’t work out.
AI can’t replace the creative fields we humans have it will just help us, yes there is a strong need for a law to use AI in various sectors, have to regulate it properly so it will not damage our human manpower. AI also can generate jobs in the future for how to use it regulate it, implementation on systems a new job is creating but other hand many jobs are losing like writing, and even editing. We have to use AI to generate more jobs then there is no issue of using AI.
The good news is that when we’re all of us it of a job, the execs who did shout like this will be sitting right with us hoping to get a handout from AI because it’s the only one with a job anymore. I need to find/build an AI sugar daddy
If they have rights, they also have to pay taxes. Since they need no food, housing shelter, clothes, cars, etc, they can be taxed at 100% income and those funds can be used to provide for the humans whose work is being displaced by those bots.
We need to have plans in place to capture value created by AI. Large corporations are basically unstoppable and untouchable with AI. You could have a large company that generates billions while employing basically no humans.
Corporate leaders are absolutely desperate to replace humans with AI.
Pathetic that they will spend tens of millions of dollars on untrained systems that don’t do much more than make educated guesses based upon a algorithm just so that they can eliminate 10% of their workforce.
Just reinforces the idea that capital hates labor.
But I’ve said this from the start of this big AI bubble,

And don’t give me any of this nonsense about universal basic income. It ain’t gonna happen, especially in places like the United States where they would rather just let you die in some shantytown hovel then pay you an extra $.10 on your salary.

I have to wonder whose idea it was to propose giving a glorified smartphone keyboard the same rights as a flesh-and-blood human being and what exactly it was supposed to accomplish other than telling people „we drastically overestimate the intelligence of current machine learning models“. We are a long, _LONG_ way from AI that is even remotely comparable to human intelligence.
We haven’t established that these AI are conscious, sentient, or even intelligent, yet we are seriously discussing their rights as people? Yes, this is insulting. Give actual human workers the rights they deserve, and then we can *maybe* talk about **giving human rights to a fucking literal corporate machine.**
