Dass die Schweizer vom 14. bis zum 16. Jahrhundert furchterregende Krieger waren, ist weltweit nicht so bekannt. Wenn man den Leuten das tatsächlich erzählen würde, würden sie wahrscheinlich lachen.
Ist das in der Schweiz selbst bekannter? Wird es in der Schule gelehrt? Wie wird es wahrgenommen – herrscht Stolz, Scham oder Gleichgültigkeit?

I think most people here are aware of Swiss history. It is taught in schools.
There is no pride or shame, as it ended in the 16th century, and, uh, that was a long time ago.

Yes it’s fairly well known as it is taught in school. Albeit often in a dry and uninteresting way (but that goes for history in general)
You should’ve phrased this to „How aware are redditors of the Swiss military past“ because it seems like most of them are clueless mostly being Americans.
As always with such topics you can find a bunch of history nerds who could tell you the exact battle order of Murten, a bunch of people who forgot everything they learned in school, and a large majority of people who kinda know that the old confederacy was some sort military power in the late medieval/early modern age but no exact details.
during the 30-year war, they were well-paid mercenaries like many others. Such people do not earn their money with philanthropy
