      Hi folks,

      I found these sockets in each of the rooms in my apartment. Some look like coax sockets and others, like RJ-45 / RJ-12 sockets.

      Does anyone know what these are for?
      Could I use them to set up a wired LAN?
      For the coax cable, how do I know if I have cablecom and on the hook for paying the monthly fees?

      My rental contract does not have this information.

      The first is TV and radio, the others are RJ-45 for LAN.
      There should be a cabinet in your appartment where you could place a Switch to make the connections work.

      For the Ethernet there should be a patch panel hidden somewhere. Check the fuse box

      For cable, back in the day this was part of the extra costs in a rental agreement because there was only one company. Today every tenant usually has a contract with cablecom/Swisscom/etc. on his own. If you didn’t ask your landlord yet I’d probably start there.

      phone and internet access. nowadays you mostly use lan since everyone got a smartphone and TV also just uses internet streaming
