Depending on certain specs, a car might get a green, yellow or red sticker or none at all. It’s based on emission values. Regional authorities may instate an „Umweltzone“ (usually only in bigger cities), and decide which color stickers are allowed inside. If you enter without the sticker (even if your car would be eligible to a sticker color that is allowed), it’s an administrative offence.
