I was willing to think maybe she meant it was ruined but has since recovered but she won an Oscar like immediately after.

Look, I’m absolutely certain being married to him was a nightmare, but that’s not a fair claim whatsoever.
She was married to Cruise in 1990, divorced in 2001. During that time she was in major hits like Days of thunder, Practical Magic, Batman Forever and moulin Rouge. The last she got an Oscar nod for. She won her Oscar in 2002 for The Hours. In 2004 she was the highest paid actress in Hollywood. Since then she’s had a pretty impressive career garnering more Oscar nods, Emmy and Golden Globe wins and cemented her status as a Hollywood leading lady.
Again, her marriage to Tom may have been hell on earth, I don’t know. But to say it hindered her career is just factually not true.
I don’t think she has to worry about paying the bills this month. She’ll be fine.

She never said that marrying Tom ruined her career, she was warned that it might affect her career. And there’s no proof that it harmed her career given films like Batman Forever, To Die For, Portrait Of A Lady and Practical Magic.

Hard to take this claim seriously. Sure, she had to hustle to rebuild, but that seems like a common thing in Hollywood? Actors will lose momentum for whatever reason, step away from the spotlight and then suddenly they are everywhere again. I don’t understand how that is Cruise’s fault even though I think he’s terrible on the whole.
