Vor ein paar Jahren reisten meine Freundin und ich nach Norwegen und gingen bei einer Wanderung in der Nähe des Lyngenfjords etwas abseits der ausgetretenen Pfade. Niemand außer uns ist weiter gegangen als bis zum „ersten“ See, der meiner Meinung nach Blåisvatnet heißt. Obwohl keine Anzeichen erkennbar waren, fühlte es sich seltsam/falsch an, dass sich niemand die Mühe machte, die Gegend weiter zu erkunden. Da die Landschaft und das Wetter einfach zu schön waren, um zu widerstehen, gingen wir trotzdem weiter und ich tauchte sogar kurz in einen der Seen weiter oben ein. Da wir dieses Jahr wieder nach Norwegen reisen und diesbezüglich nichts wirklich Konkretes finden konnten, würde ich gerne wissen, ob wir das aus irgendeinem Grund (im Sommer) lieber nicht tun sollten oder ob wir im rechtlichen Sinne eine Grenze überschritten haben. Ich weiß, ich hätte das vor unserer ersten Reise recherchieren sollen. Vielen Dank im Voraus.

Go wherever you want. Just don’t swim in drinking water basins (they will be marked with signs) and don’t pee or shit near water. Leave no trace.

It should be perfectly fine. To understand why, read up on the [Outdoor Recreation Act](https://www.regjeringen.no/en/documents/outdoor-recreation-act/id172932/), which is better known as the „[Allemannsretten](https://www.lifeinnorway.net/allemannsretten-right-to-roam/)“ or „Right to roam“.
You are allowed to roam anywhere you want in the the wilderness, as long as you are not on built up land, farmland or closer than 150m from a building you have the right to walk around wherever you want. It is common courtesy to stick to existing paths (if there are any), but you can also go beyond them if no path goes where you want.
Skinny dipping is also not a problem as long as you are considerate if other people are close by.
We have «Freedom to roam» in Norway meaning you can go wherever you want, with a few exceptions, such as:
* Farmland
* People’s gardens (or where you clearly will be breaching someone’s privacy.

You did nothing wrong. It’s a super popular spot and plenty of people take a quick dip there. Just don’t leave a mess or dirty the water.
It’s beautiful up there, just not allowed to fly a drone.

Happy to hear that we didn‘t do anything wrong and it was just me being anxious as we (in Austria) are a quite a bit more close minded and uptight, especially when it comes to areas which appear like a nature preserve. Looking forward to skinny dipping in a norwegian lake again soon!
No, it’s not illegal to roam further unless it’s farmland, someone’s backyard or if it’s fenced off for some spesial use (like military shooting range or something).
Skinny dipping is also legal, unless you’re blotting yourself to children or act offensive to someone
So, as long as you didn’t went out of you way to offend someone or disposed of trash in the nature, you’re all good…
