Showing that shades of green have also been available is just rubbing it in.
And wtf is happening in Colorado? Is that a result of abundant Tegridy?

What happened in Colorado to make it so far below the average? I’m guessing the landscape contributes to a more outdoor lifestyle?

Did we really need that green and dotted green in the legends? 😆

Insufficient data for Tennessee?
I feel like I can pick their color pretty easily

I can confirm Tennessee is quite fat also

Among large and wealthy nations, the U.S. is number one in obesity. Not a number one to be stoked about.

Can confirm Indiana as someone whose parents live there..
I’m surprised the West Coast isn’t in the same group as CO. The handful of times I’ve been out there I’ve noticed less obesity than in the Midwest.

Hopefully this map will become more yellow and green in the coming decade as GLP-1 starts to become more ubiquitous.

Always Colorado. It’s a thing.

The fact that there is no green anywhere 😬

So if I want to avoid fat people, move to Colorado, got it.

Terrible epidemic. Being obese is literally one of the worst things you can do to your body. We need better education on exercise science and cheaper options for healthier food.

Is there county level data? That would be very interesting.

The national obesity rate was 14% fifty years ago.

Ah, the tale of 2 mountain states. West Virginia and Colorado being the fattest and thinnest states.

As someone who lives in TN, I assure you the obesity tracker is in the dark red.

What’s crazy is Colorado would be the fattest state 100 years ago

Wow the comments on this are cesspit. In more serious analysis, I have to wonder how this correlates with things like walkability/accessibility of physical activity, food deserts, economic status, etc.
it seems to me that there are lower obesity rates in states with more walkable communities, access to a wide range of healthy foods, general higher income that tends to correlate with the ability to afford these things, etc. Truly a systemic issue.
(also reminds me of when people say that obesity rates used to be so much lower in the past – and there was far more public transit back then, as well as denser and more walkable communities. Of course if more people are walking a lot in their everyday life, they’re going to burn more calories)

I live in CO but my family is back in NY and I visit often and have just visited other states — you can literally see the difference out and about. So many more people who just take care of themselves and enjoy the outdoors. Idk what it is specifically since other states offer a similar lifestyle but people overall are just happier and more active from what I’ve observed.

For what it’s worth, with GLP-1s obesity rates have already started to decline. And better variants are coming out nearly every month atp
We’ve likely now passed peak obesity in the US

Florida has got to be higher than that.
