Wait we had transparency before? I always felt like immigration was a crap shoot for who processed your application and what they had for breakfast deciding if you got a 1, 3, 5 year visa or a 30 days to GTFO.
No transparency is part of the policy, as it allows to change and interpret things as one pleases.
There was no transparency before either, just a gauge based on who got rejected and their circumstances to guess why. This is actually the first time we’ll get something concrete. Eventually, maybe.
It’s hilarious because there are many MANY japanese who would not hit that requirement and what’s the government doing about helping those citizens other than blaming foreigners who have nothing to do with it white these incompetent politicians actively DESTROY THE COUNTRY FOR PROFIT AND POPULIST GAINS
I have zero desire to immigrate to Japan, but this seems no different from how Australia or Canada just suddenly changes their PR or Visa requirements and leave people’s plans in disarray. I admit Australia is worse than Canada though.

In my 12 years here I’ve had 9 zairyu cards, 3 are for spouse. The reasoning makes no sense.
