Hallo zusammen,

This is lowkey funny, sorry
Lmaoooo, sorry
But 33 points
Lmao. Sorry 😬
You have to wait on their response. Sorry this happened but it’s also kind of hilarious given how big of a mistake it is. Did you happen to take the test in the East?
but hey, congrats on the 100!
If that’s any consolation, even the fucking Olympics made the same mistake 2 years ago.
Get used to hearing the wrong anthem that’s also yours now.
Lol, dumbasses

Dude, I hope you don’t have to wait 2 more months now 😂
Hi so i had the same problem!
Actually the email wont work for some reason, you need to try to submit your request thru the online form, with the email i waited for two months no response but then i submitted using the forum and i got an answer within a day, you will probably get an automated response telling you to send them your original certificate (the office that issued you the certificate, you can find it on the extra paper u received in the mail with your certificate) as well as proof of your birth place, so passport and such, your residence permit, and a letter that describes the problem, after i sent it (and that depends on the office) i waited 2-3 weeks, in that time u cant really track it, they don’t really update you thru the process, after that i received a mail witj my certificate with the updated birth place

A few weeks later: „Congratulations on your citizenship of the Deutsche Demokratische Republik (DDR)!“
My gf got her Einbürgerungsurkunde with her name written in the official Belarusian transcription of her name. German citizenship was a requirement to be able to go to the Standesamt to get her name officially changed to standard German form of her name.
She then proceed to apply for a German passport and ID card. The clerk refused to process the application because her name didn’t match the Einbürgerungsurkunde. Which it couldn’t, because the documents and action were only possible in that order. We had to stand our ground and request to speak to their supervisor. Was quite annoying…
What I want to say: You might have to expect a few irritating discussions.
How do you get it so fast? I did the test the same day as you, and in Bamf website it says: Aktuell wertet das Bundesamt Tests bis Prüfungsdatum **04.05.2026** aus.
Contact the Ausländerbehörde at once and report the error.
🤣🤣🤣
I also experienced this.
„You – are from a democratic country. And republic… Okay Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, right?“
„Ye….. wait, no that’s the North Korea🤣“
I really dont get why they do this…. I have a friend who got at this cert
also wrong country even though they highted it should be fixed already when they sat for the test (it was wrong already on the test).
And its always a neighbouribg country / country from same region that has nth to do with their coubtry but for an ignorant sounds like a similar place (South vs North Korea).
I dont get why they cannot hire someone who has at least a level of geography knowledge of a 7 year old kid, especially when its their only job! And they even ignore all remarks and comments, its really frustrating.

Time to order your very first fax machine!
That’s btw the actual Einbürgerungstest. Good luck 🍀
Instead of emailing them just send a fax. Much faster response.

This is embarrassing
If they don’t respond to you, as a soon to be German, you should do what every German would do now: Anwalt regelt.
This happened to me too. Wrong country for birthplace. I actually didn’t even say anything about it or query it and had no problem getting my citizenship. Don’t think they even noticed.
I‘m Sorry but this is really funny.
I can almost see the persons thoughts: „Democratic? Must be the good Korea then“.
Sorry to know that
Send correction using a coded message using an Enigma machine
I mean it’s so easy, any country with „democratic“ in its name usually isn’t…
On a new episode of alternate history… How would the Korean Peninsula look like if the DPRK had won xDDD
Sorry mate, I hope you don’t have to wait months to get it corrected else you can enjoy belonging to “True Korea” for a while/s
I wonder how it happens in the first place when everyone fills out a form to sign up for the test. When I sat for mine, I saw they misspelled my last name which I typed in while signing up for the test. Like how does that even happen? Do they look at applicants info and go: nahhh that must be wrong! and put something else in? Weird.
I feel a final Behördengang after the Einbürgerungstest just seems like there is a hidden question 34 to check who truly deserves a 100% score.
To navigate bureaucracy properly, you need to refer to the right law – request a correction of inaccurate personal data under Article 16 of the GDPR („right to rectification“)! They must then correct the data without undue delay. However, that means not immediately, but without any culpable delay (which expects less than a month).
You did not get a response? I mean hey, it’s only been what, a few weeks, right?
Look, I’m german and how do I best tell you this: if you send all required forms in for your retirement, you are super lucky to hear back from that department after 3 months (it usually takes them 5+ months). So, I mean, I totally get how this is absolutely infuriating and a horrible mistake. But yeah, the only thing you really CAN do is to not let up. Pressure them: call them, send them letters, file whatever you can file against this. It is super duper annoying but the only language those departmens actually understand.
Just address them as „Liebe Genossen der Deutschen Demokratischen Republik, …“ that should spice things up!
Trotzdem herzlich Willkommen, neuer Bürger unserer schönen Deutschen Demokratischen Republik!
