I saw a clip of Moscovites being interviewed after Ukraine successfully struck them with a big drone strike and one woman was all: „I don’t understand why Moscow is being involved in this war between Ukraine and Russia.“ I find that fascinating.
He really miscalculated a lot going into this war. Before, many neutrals may not have liked Russia but thought they have a strong military. Now even that reputation is gone. I doubt anyone fears or thinks highly of Russia anymore.
I don’t see how owning Ukraine could possibly be worth all of this.
1.4 M?!?? Casualties in Afghanistan for Russia were less than 70k.
There are about 30 million men in the age of 20-50 in Russia, most military casualties will be in this age group. 1.4 million casualties means almost 5% of that age group is now dead or seriously wounded (= most likely handicapped for life). Absolutely insane numbers and a recipe for demographic collapse

By way of comparison, this is about *eight or nine times* more fatal casualties than America suffered while while fighting the Vietnam War, in a conflict that’s lasted half as long.
