But Mr. Uyoku doesn’t like how they look so they should go home right away (never mind the fact they are actually temporary and will most likely leave after they finish their studies)
Japanese combini workers are rare these days in my part of town and I really can’t complain. They are probably better than some of the Japanese youth these days
Somewhat rare in the inaka. At least where I am. So if I see a foreigner, on the one hand I don’t wanna make em uncomfortable but on the other hand I respect the hustle and wanna show my support somehow. Sometimes I chat when there’s time but eh.
Speaking as a team lead in the kitchen, a lot of times we rate foreign students/workers higher than native japanese even with visa problems. Simply for the fact that they are kind of forced to be on best behavior 24/7 or risk losing their job and also deported. This result in foreign team members at our hotel being much more reliable than a lot of native japanese hire. For an example, we hired about 20 new employee this year. 6 foreign 14 japanese. Its been about 6 months since they all got hired officially and only 4 japanese out of those 14 are still here. The rest quit after like a month or two, one girl quit on the first shift. Who knew that hospitality work in japan would be tough and stressful lol All 6 of the foreign workers are still here. Not surprised a lot of businesses maybe even prefer foreign workers.
What is a konbini ‚official‘?
Also wouldn’t it be in their best interests to say that, as THEY are the ones that need them?
90% of the time I go to a konbini the staff is a foreigner. no bad interaction yet. Once I wanted to pay for games bought on steam and the worker needed some help from a senpai, that’s all 😂
It’s almost like human beings can learn and adjust to a new environment 😱
You never see foreigner conbini workers in the inaka, and you never see Japanese combini workers in the big cities…
The foreign konbini staff are politer than their young Japanese counterparts, these days.
They have adapted well. I might get cancelled for my following statement though. But a lot of the foreign workers are from South Asia and while I like their work ethic, they have a certain body odor that is not pleasant. It’s not a great feeling when I came there to buy refreshments or food.
