Posted on June 2025 yet according to the article this shit was happening in Feb 2024!
„setting“ on a shelf? I mean, I get it when it seems like most posters are so lazy and careless that they can’t be bothered to spell properly, but come on, if it’s your job, do better.
Nope, saw this coming from a mile away.
Well, at least someone is reading them. Actually gives them more relevance.
Destroyers of human knowledge and legacy.
This is what happens when we place the State as the enemy and the companies as our saviors
Been going on a LONG TIME.
It’s called destructive digitization and it is one of the most common ways to scan books. It has been happening forever. Also it’s not really done to antiques, I found no evidence of that. Anthropic for example was accused of this, but the books they destroyed for scanning were all second hand mass produced books.
Felt like I saw a movie about this before. Companies and their owners are just stupid af to destroy them like it’s IP. Theyre legit steal based on copyright usage of the books
There was an AI that was being fed books from a website called Anna’s Archive. I don’t remember if it still exists, but it was one of the biggest in its time, if it isn’t still.
Okay scan the books but why destroy them afterwards?
I thought I hated wokeness but AI is on a whole other level.
Book burning from AI companies will be much worse than the book burning after ww2
Now with ai they can rewrite what’s in it, present it to you as fact and then tell you it was the Mandela effect if you remember otherwise
Like Christendom destroying Alexandria and them keeping all knowledge in the Vatican private library xd …
The internet May be at danger of been the new alenxadria library .. and this corporations the new guys trying to centralized such Knowledge..
It happens in Rainbow’s End by Vernor Vinge
Once knowledge is destroyed it is gone. Wtf are they thinking?
Literally fascism
This is why im obsessed with collecting physical books.
