Around blackholes? How would a Dyson sphere work around a black hole? Wouldn’t all the light be pulled away from it into said hole? Not too me tion the logistics of getting the sphere to not be sucked in.

Dyson sphere was supposed to be a satire of exactly that. How did we come to this?
Here’s my hot take: we don’t need to be paying people to do this right now. Sincerely, a scientist fighting for funding to study things we know exist.

Dyson spheres are the dumbest theory physics has ever come up with. Harnessing all the power of a star sounds great until you realize you have no need for that amount of power. There is no benefit to building one and an advanced civilization wouldn’t waste resources trying to. Even if we destroyed every planet in our solar system there still wouldn’t be enough material to build one.
Turned the sun into a black hole thanks to the Worm event to get a Dyson Sphere there ?

Angela Collier ruined Dyson Spheres for me.
She has an excellent video where she talks about the context in which Dyson made his proposal, and she argues that it was a satirical response to SETI initiatives, arguing that they were a waste of variable radio telescope time.

Why do I see articles like this assuming that dyson spheres are even possible?
I’m interested in why a civilization would need to build such a device.
Everyone should go watch the Angela Collier video on Dyson spheres. She has a PhD in astrophysics and does a great job explaining that the original paper was a mocking protest of SETI and that building a one is pure nonsense.
So riddle me this, would not a kugelbliz be a much more efficient way to harness energy, and it would only need to have about half a Dyson sphere of energy to Kickstart, why would any alien build a Dyson sphere?
a species that lives within their means would never need such a thing. only a parasitic cancerous plague of a species would ever need to dream up a Dyson sphere. considering our nature (or the nature of our dominant cultures) we should be devoting our time to figuring out how to destroy a Dyson sphere if we ever come across one. That is our place in the universe. First species to destroy their home planet and then go on to destroy every other home planet. Good morning everyone!
