Ich war noch nie auf einem Konzert und weiß, dass ich wahrscheinlich wie eine Karen oder so klingen werde, aber ist irgendjemandem die übermäßige Menge an Telefonen auf Konzerten und Veranstaltungen aufgefallen? Ich habe diesen Screenshot aus der Geschichte eines Freundes gemacht. Ich glaube, er war bei Bruno Mars oder so.
Jeder Zweite macht sich mehr Sorgen darüber, ein Video eines Songs aufzunehmen und auf seinem Snapchat zu posten, als sich den Song tatsächlich anzuhören und es zu schätzen, ihn live hören zu können. Mir kommt die Idee in den Sinn, „den Moment festzuhalten“, aber brauchen wir wirklich mehr als 100 Leute, die dasselbe Video aufnehmen?
Dasselbe passiert in den Wolfstönen, jede Geschichte hat die gleichen Lieder in der gleichen Reihenfolge und so weiter. Niemand scheint das Konzert mehr als das zu genießen, was es ist, alle sind nur noch Videofilmer, sobald sie das Konzert betreten.

I’ve been to hundreds of concerts and played a few myself. I love music. I love being in the moment.
But I have close friends who have scattered to the winds, in many countries around the world. If a song reminds me of someone, I’ll take a 15 second clip to send it along to them. I don’t think that means I’m enjoying the music less and I don’t think it takes away from the experience.

I’m acclimatised to it in a way now but when I see people recording, I feel like it’s a involuntary reaction now. I’ve seen teenagers in museums just hold their phone at head hight and just walk past exhibits not even looking at what they are recording. Video will likely have shit sound anyway and be looked at once. Kinda tragic but I do see some of the younger crowd really getting back into the swing of things and going to gigs for the enjoyment.
For many, not all, it’s a way of saying „I’m here, you’re not.“
Bob Dylan gigs have a ‘no phones’ policy and you’re provided with a locked phone pouch for the duration. It works well and you’re not distracted by phone screens and flashes.
This is why I like to take two 20-30 seconds clips per concert, just to send to friends if they like a special bit and to share the experience with them. But more than that and we’re all constantly recording, it’s too much
You’ve never been to a gig so I’d imagine its hard to notice.
From experience, it seems to correlate to how popular, faddish and genuinely not actually that good the music is.
Techno and man/ men with guitar, generic Iradio pop. Those gigs it’s very common, constant and can be a genuine issue because everyone is looking up at their phone and being a roadblock.
Tech house or Groove techno DJs, half the crowd are recording the whole thing poorly while shouting yeoooo.
Was at a gig last week 70k people, so only time I seen the phones out was to record iconic moments, and once where everyone used their torch as a lighter, it was Class.
Generally can tell beforehand what itll be like.
Yes I admit I’ve went fangirl a couple of times and recorded a whole gig. For my own memories, not social media.
At a recent concert I went to, I had someone in front of me hold their phone up directly in my line of sight.
It was only a min or two and not the whole concert but it was long enough to annoy me.
I was at Don Henley a few years ago, and he asked the audience at the beginning to save the phones and to only use them during Hotel California!
I remember coldplay had a concert where they told the audience no phones please. Of course eijits recorded it. Any concert ive been to the only concern i have with my phone is where is it. I dont whip it out because a recording of the performance is boring to watch
Sports events and just about every event of any significance anywhere is now the same. People are more worried about their instagram stories than the experience itself
I find it depends on the band. Went to see Garbage in Iveagh Gardens recently and phones only out sporadically.
My bf records every concert we go to. He has a YouTube channel where he uploads fancams. It’s part of the Kpop scene I guess.
I think it’s dumb. I’ll take a couple videos to remember it better but I hate that he essentially has his arms in the air worried about his phone the entire time.
I usually record one or two songs for my friends who couldn’t make it
Wait till you go to some comedy shows , your required to put phones in dags or not record since some people cant handle a comedy show and would use what the comedian say to attack em online

You pay for the ticket and you can do whatever you want once your are not interfering with other peoples enjoyment.
I was going to a gig the other night and my 5 year old asked me to take videos and he wanted to know what it was like. So I recorded 4 twenty second videos to show him.
I’ve no idea what I would use them for other than show my son. So I don’t understand the people that film the whole gig.
You want one person to capture the moment and share with 100 others? Also filming and listening can be done at the same time.
My wife and I went to Nick Cave in the 3 Arena a couple of years ago and noted the lack of phones out. I guess it’s up to each person to have the phone out but i really think they miss something when they just record the moment they’re in
That’s why i think they should introduce phone pouches at all concerts
Saw Tori Amos here this year and I swear everyone and their mother all decided to stand up and record on their phones once she played Cornflake Girl immediately blocking my view💀
You’ve never been to a concert so you’ve never experienced this. Why does it bother you? They only way you’d know anything about concerts is because other people record them with their phones

In all seriousness there are terrible clips from Coachella this year where most of the crowd were standing still essentially live streaming the gigs.
It’s a wider issue around a few things, but very sad to see.
