      There were so many (inconclusive) discussions about spirit animal for Europe and I think you’ve nailed it

      But I’d pick Athene noctua (which is already in use on Greek Euro coin) that replicates ancient drachmas

      If they pumper it up with some tiny electronics, like the greeting card, which plays Hedwig’s theme every time you squeeze owl’s belly… it would have been a blast.

      I also think that the designs were missing an owl!

      It stands for wisdom and knowledge

      There should be 500 € note.
      1, 2 and 5 € should be coins.
      0,1, 0,2, 0,5 € should also exist, as coins.

      I like the idea of European animals on our bills. Cantabrian bear from Spain, European Bison from mostly Poland, European Moose from Scandanavia, eurasian Wolf, kingfisher bird, Great White Shark, and many more.

      Unbeknownst to some, europe hosts a lot of wonderful animals which we should cherisch

      I like it, yet I think any non-vegetarian bird is likely to be considered controversial, like figures such as Maria Callas or Marie Curie.

      Anyway, I would choose birds that migrate to Asia, that would be the most accurate for the moment /s

      Who cares what is printed on 500€ note? How often do you use them? What for?

      Isnt the 500 euro one the least used/accepted overall to reduce money laundering etc?

      Owls are usually associated with wisdom, so trying to connect them to anything European seems wrong.

      The background would have to be changed, the body of water in the background is supposed to be based on the value of the note. The €5 notes depict small streams and it increases in size until the €200 shows an ocean. Not sure what you could do for a €500 note – a tsunami? Not very European though!

      Good that we got rid of the 500, a right step to reduce money laundering.

      If it was to me I would ban all cash altogether.

      I agree. But I’d like it on the twenty euro note.

      (Mainly because I want to regularly see owls on the cash. I like owls, hoo-hoo.)
