It says in the Arabic text:

      Kataa’eb Hezbollah

Its funny because this same militia is still active today and also fighting against Americans in the middle east, however they heavily use suicide drones right now.

    2. Source on the KIA/wounded total? Only troops lost on 5/9/07 were definitely unrelated to this. That tank doesn’t look dead either.

iraq war would have played much different if it had happened today with all the drone warfare

      Fucken rats.

Edit: anybody defending people who use human shields, schools, hospitals, etc, as military bases, weapons caches, and combat positions are crazy. I totally understand the difference in capabilities and yes the invasion was unjust and fucked up. Guerrilla warfare is basically all they had. But some of the tactics used were straight up vile and evil. But that’s both sides. Vile and evil things happen in war.

Yeah sus on the kia. Abrams are built well, and I always felt somewhat safe in mine when i served. Plus someone noted inconsistencies in reported deaths etc.

Scariest things were really mines/ieds, and top attacks from something like a helicopter or fast mover.

Funny the teach you to stop moving if a heli is spotted.

I still would have loved to have had something like a trophy system for rpgs on the tanks. Not only would it intercept the rpg round before it hit and destroy it, it would let you know where the attack came from and even automatically swing the main arround so could prosecute like a mfer whoever just shot at you.

But like someone said, drones have absolutely changed tank warfare.

Thankfully abrams isn’t sitting (literally) on all of its ammo like russian T series tanks and were designed with crew survivability in mind with the rounds behind knee switch activated blast doors and blow out panels on top of the tank that would vent the explosion (if hit in that area) up and out of the tank sparing us a quick roast BBQ to death.

Hell I was more scared of the halon bottle being used as if you didn’t get out you’d suffocate since it replaces all the air in the tank in case of a fire. Beats burning to death but if the tanks on fire you’re trying to evac anyways.

These guys heads are ringing, wonder about penetration even tho it was a solid turret ring area shot but it looks a bit high and there’s some thick armor on the turret faces. I’d be more worried about spall honestly

And who knows if it’s a *heavy* abrams model, that had depleted uranium armor (easy to tell if you’re near an abrams, it’ll have the letter „U“ after the serial numbers that are welded to the outsides of the tank in various areas.

The heavy models are even more survivable.
