      Democrats believes government works. And can tax the rich to help working people.

      Stop voting for Republicans.

      These are laissez-faire style, liberal policy changes. Straight out of the “Abundance” playbook if you want to go there.

      I really like Mamdani and I think the way he leans into good policy from a broad tent of center to left leaning camps is smart. Notably, I really like that he does not politically alienate adjacent interest groups he may not agree with on every issue. He’s an incredibly astute politician.

      I wish the online discourse among progressives could learn from his early success, and allow the left to be a heterodox, progressive movement. I fear it won’t happen.

      Who knew you could win an election and then just…do the stuff you said you wanted to do without excuse? Just pass legislation that makes peoples’ lives better within a few months? A lot of us should be a lot madder at our local and state governments.

      Among other things:

      Bodega owners will no longer need a separate license to sell the same products outside the store – like fruit and flowers – as inside. Restaurants will no longer need a “superfluous” frozen dessert permit to sell ice-cream on top of the permit already required to sell food. Barber shops will no longer have to renew their permit every year, instead doing so every three years. Street fair vendor permit fees will be reduced, restaurant inspections will be sped up, and equipment registration fees will be eliminated for a year.

      Something I’m confused by: was this something he could just do?  Like on his own, just get rid of red tape by executive order?  Meaning any of his predecessors could have just done it?

      This is the real message that the Center/Center right GOP/Dems and the far right misinformed needs to hear. This current GOP cares about business* and taxes** and fraud*** and the people****.

      * – giant mega business who funnel money into campaigns

      ** – lowering taxes so those with wealth and 0.01% pay the least amount of taxes as humanly possible

      *** – to further niche anti-minority (LGBT, immigrants, equality, civil rights etc…) but not the real fraud perpetuated by giant mega business who commit by far the most (medicare, medicaid, defense contracting and other government contracting etc…)

      **** – the people who give them or allow them to make tons of money and keep their power.

      I’ve been saying this since he started his term. He strikes me as less „socialist“ and more of a proper mayor that we wished we had in that he makes things run. And I love him helping out small businesses because the one way to combat massive corporations from gobbling up everything while exploiting workers and customers is by making it so smaller businesses can chip away from them. An ant, alone, might not be able to take you down. But a million ants? You are in danger. This is capitalism at work. Not oligarchy as we have it now.

      Regulations should only only only be to protect people not hurt people. If regulating is hurting both businesses AND people vs protecting people from neferious business, it needs to go.

      This is what I hope from smart people who (hopefully) aren’t too tied up in any specific political ideology.

      Regulation in itself isn’t good or bad.

      But not all regulation is effective.

      Key quote from the article, from a former Adams support – „If that’s what socialism is, I’m all for it!“ The more people see the impacts of progressive policy the more they realize the real boogeyman was the right wing and neoliberal propaganda all along.

      What’s not being mentioned is the grift and corruption that went into creating most of these regulations to line the pockets of the politicians.
