      Heat is set to intensify and become more widespread across England and parts of Wales next week with temperatures surging as high as 35C (95F).

      Following much-needed rain in the north and north-west of the UK this weekend, temperatures will rise back to heatwave threshold levels in many locations.

      For some, the new week may mark the start of the fourth heatwave of the year.

      However a few locations are still experiencing their third with temperatures at Usk, Monmouthshire and Exeter, Devon reaching heatwave thresholds for the 20th consecutive day on Friday.

      When is a heatwave declared and how many has the UK had?
      Heatwaves are declared when temperatures reach or exceed a threshold temperature for three consecutive days.

      This varies from 25C across the north and west of the UK to 28C in parts of eastern England.

      These thresholds were widely met in late May, June and again in July – meaning we have had three heatwaves so far.

      The worst part about this summer is the 20C to 35 changes. If it was 35 all the time you get use to it but this way is way worse

      Off topic. But I still don’t understand why some people believe this isn’t a warning or danger sign. Europe literally is having a wild fire now.

      Heat makes my depression and depersonalization issues so much worse, from May to October now I feel like I’m not a real person. Do I need to start a serious plan to move to a colder country 🤔

      Air 2 Air mini split sales are going to leap before next summer. Or failing that monoblock units in bedrooms. About a grand to get a good sleep

      Oooh. This might give Northern Scotland a wee taste of the Summer weather that everyone else is talking about. We have had rubbish weather this year. It’s blowing a hoolie as we speak at 14°.

      My bedroom needs the memo it still thinks there’s a heatwave so am absolutely surprised at the notion of the heatwave coming back!!

      Next time you are clearing up the food waste off your drive because the crappy bag splits remember that this is all your fault and nothing to do with companies producing endless shit in China, the daily oil refinery fires in Iran or the UAE or Saudi Arabia caused by missiles/drones or the thousands of private jets flying one or two people around the world.

      This is going to be the new normal and is going to get worse and worse, and we will also get floods in winter and all sorts of weather extremes.

      We have to start adaptation as a country seriously now as an urgent priority, and as a world we have to stop emitting carbon and this hyper consumerist world needs to stop as well.

      We can’t just carry on and go back to ’normal‘ once this climate change caused summer is over.

      I posted this on the link on r/UKWeather, but this is a weird article for the BBC – they talk about the heat potentially returning to the mid twenties and then mention in *some* models it could get up to 35c, and that’s the headline? Very tabloid.

      While *technically* the heatwave stopped for a bit (at least three consecutive days with daily maximum temperatures meeting or exceeding the heatwave temperature threshold, 25-28 depending on where you are in the country), where I am the temperatures have stayed pretty high and we’ve had no rain, so it really doesn’t feel like it.

      I see the usual shite on here….

      The thing we need to do is decarbonise the energy product as much as possible followed by mass transportation. Maybe shorten supply chains, maybe change a few habits here and there, maybe remove fast fashion, outlaw things that can not be easily fixed such as cars, fridges and other general items.

      Sadly none of that fits in the economic model of growth at all cost.

      In all seriousness I really can’t handle more heat, I miss the summers where the maximum was around 28C.

      I had a course with dogs booked 4 months ago…it’s likely going to be cancelled because the welfare of dogs would be impacted.
      I fully agree with this decision. However, I’m extremely sad as I was SO looking forward to it.
      So yeah, I HATE this weather with a passion and I want off this ride, thank you 😭
