Bodendämmplatten. 10 mm Styropor, mit einer reflektierenden Außenschicht. Ende Juni herrschten drinnen mehr als zwei Wochen lang über 30 Grad, auch nachts. Alle Fenster sind nach Süden ausgerichtet. Ich habe diese Panels für 35 Euro gesehen und mich einfach dazu entschlossen, sie abzuholen. Das Paket reichte gerade für jedes Fenster in der Wohnung.
Klimaanlage nächstes Jahr, ich hoffe, das hilft mir diesen Sommer noch. Jedes Fenster verfügt über zwei Einzelfenster, die einzeln geöffnet werden können, mit ein paar Zentimetern Abstand dazwischen (alte Zweifachverglasung). Gerade genug Platz für diese Panels. Bitte sagen Sie mir, dass dies nicht zu einer Überhitzung der Fenster oder anderen Gefahren führen wird.
Bearbeiten: Wenn jemand aufgrund etwas wie mir tatsächlich Fenster zerbrochen hat, sagen Sie es mir bitte. Ich denke tatsächlich darüber nach, dieses Setup jetzt zu entfernen. So viele Leute sagen mir, dass das äußere Glas brechen wird. Allerdings habe ich einen Nachbarn im Obergeschoss, der ein paar Wochen lang dasselbe mit Alufolie auf Pappe gemacht hat, und ich kann eine Wohnung in meiner Straße sehen, die auch innen reflektierendes Material hat. Ich bin mir hier wirklich nicht sicher. Bisher haben die meisten Leute, die sagen, dass es knacken wird, nicht gesagt, dass es tatsächlich passiert ist.
Edit2: Zu viele Leute warnen mich und ich möchte kein Risiko eingehen. Bei Fenstern, die direkter Sonneneinstrahlung ausgesetzt sind, habe ich einfach den reflektierenden Teil nach innen gedreht. Im Grunde ist es jetzt wie ein sehr dunkler und isolierender Verdunkelungsvorhang aus Styropor. Ich bin mir nicht sicher, wie viel das helfen wird, wir werden sehen. Das Fenster auf den Bildern wird durch einen Balkon darüber beschattet, daher denke ich darüber nach, die reflektierende Seite nach außen zu lassen.

Please tell me you stuck that to the outside of the windows, not between them.
(It could go ok with the panels between the two window panes, but it might very well also just plain crack the glass in some places. If you own the place, it’s your risk to take, if you don’t, I’d very much advise to stick them to the outside of the window if I were you. Yes, it’s less convenient, but it’s also safer.)
I would recommend sticking them fully on the exterior rather than between the panes of glass. Otherwise the sunlight will come through the first pane, reflect, and go back out through the same pane, doubling (roughly) the heat the glass is subjected to and increasing the chances of it shattering from stress.
Yeah, it will work better than curtains, since they reflect more heat to the outside.

I mean, this should work fine. It’s basically the same principle as people who use reflective covers for their windshields.
My across-the-street neighbors are using pieces of cardboard that are wrapped in emergency blankets (so that they’re reflective). Hasn’t seemed to hurt their windows.

If you have exterior walls that trap heat, this won’t help. Your apartment will still be a backing oven. Just darker.
Problem is, doesn’t really matter that they are in between two windows, the reflective side still faces towards the glass, so it might overheat and damage it. 🙁

I’ve not seen those tiles before, but anything that reflects the light back out should be good.
My windows are foiled with the cheapo aluminium foil from Rossman.
Just tape to the inside of the windows, shiny side facing out. It makes the room SOOO much cooler.

Here’s some more information for you:
**Point 1**: Whether indoors or outdoors, micro-cracks can form in the glass if it’s just a standard window.
**Point 2**: No insurance company in the world will cover the damage if the landlord notices it.
**Point 3**: If you’re unlucky and the landlord is out to get you, they can cite this as grounds for terminating your tenancy.
**Point 4**: The second-worst thing that can happen to you is that a neighbour might be bothered by the reflection and report you for causing a nuisance.
**Point 5**: This is what happens if you’re really unlucky. If you live near a road and the sun happens to reflect off your window, blinding a driver and causing them to crash, you’re absolutely done for. Endangering road safety, possibly causing bodily harm and damage to property.
In other words, you’ll never be happy again.

Dont put the stuff on the inside of the windows, you want the thermal energy stay outside !
Reflecting IR is what its for
Look, if you’d have told me that’s the north facing side then I’d have said okay, take the flip, it’s up to you.
But since those are south facing windows which will take the full blown sun over a couple of hours every day you created a ticking time bomb.
It’s not about *if* it will fail or cause issues, but *when*.
As others already mentioned, no insurance will cover this, in the worst case you’ll need to pay for a full set of new windows. Personally I wouldn’t risk it and ask a professional. We aren’t in your appartment, we can’t judge the quality of the windows and whatnot, but from what we’re able to see it’s a dumb idea.
Put it on the outside of the outer window with the reflective side facing inside.
The problem with Germany, in a nutshell. A lot of advice from people living their entire life in a coutry that did not have such severe heatwaves in the past.
OP: take your point to a sub from South-Eastern Europe where such heatwaves are common in the summer, and where people are using exactly your solution without windows cracking, or glaring drivers, or any other „end of the world“ scenario.
(Source: I had such an improvisation in place in Southeastern Europe for 6 years, years ago when AC was expensive and not common for apartments. And my window panes survived. And the window panes of all my friends that used this method also survived, and none of them worried so much for a simple f***ing solution to a common problem, as the window panes will take way more heat than people here think; it is the sudden change of temperature (heat shock) that breaks them, not the temperature itself)
