President Nicușor Dan announced a few moments ago that a drone was shot down in Romania’s airspace by an F-16 pilot. The drone was struck over an uninhabited area, the president said.
„We had a drone in our airspace. It was shot down a few minutes ago, around 11 o’clock. By a Romanian F-16 pilot. It is important to emphasize that the area was uninhabited. This was the reason why he was able to fire downward, and now institutional teams are investigating all the details related to the incident,“ the president stated.
This is the first time a drone has been shot down by the air force in Romania.
According to G4Media sources, the drone was hit over Buzău County, in the Padina Pogoanele area.
In the last hour, several Ro-Alert messages were issued in counties in the southeast of the country—Buzău, Ialomița, Călărași, Tulcea, Galați—warning that objects might fall from the sky.
The big question is how did it, or why was it allowed to make it halfway from the border to Bucharest?

In the last day I’ve received at least 6 alerts, 3 of them in the last 2 hours, these kind of drone attacks happening every 2-3 hours, if before it used to occur once every few days now it’s getting quite crazy.

About damn time we started shooting those things down. Taking down drones sends a message that other stuff can be shot down as well and BS won’t be tolerated. That’s the only language orcs understand: raw hard power.
I get the feeling a lot of people in this thread will be disappointed when it turns out it was an Ukrainian stray drone. You can tell because none of the authorities even hinted/speculated it was Russian.
