Good. Stay home and learn from Mom how the Earth is flat and God will return to said flat earth at the end of the century.
As it should be. Medical exemptions only.
Hallelujah. Finally not doing the dumbest thing possible.
Too many childhood diseases resurfacing. You want to play Russian Roulette with your kids, fine. Home school them and don’t endanger others.
SCOTUS is gonna overrule the fuck out of this, but I commend the effort.
These exemptions need to be treated like a disease and eradicated.
Yea, your ‚religion‘ should not allow you to be a super spreader for the rest.
Who else is surprised that this is West Virginia of all places?
>“West Virginia immunizations have always been required. We have one of the strongest laws in the country, we are in probably the top two, but basically all students in West Virginia have to be immunized in public schools and that’s not changed,” said Jennifer Lilly, A certified RN in the state of West Virginia.
Yea but the harm is that a few kids education is delayed because of decisions their parents made vs polio coming back because of those same parents decisions so it feels like a pretty easy decision.
You can learn to read later in life, I don’t think you can unlearn polio.
Good. It’s *awful* that someone might have been able to say „my religion should allow me to put YOUR kids and our community at greater risk.“
LOL What is wrong with people these days?
Putting the W in WV
Because there literally isn’t any.
It’s only July and we already have more measles cases in the U.S. than we had in all of 2025.
What’s next, a comeback for the Mumps and the Chicken Pox?
I’m just surprised it’s West Virginia taking a stand.
Good
Wow – did not expect this level of rationality from a West Virginia school! Cheers!
The funny part is no actual religion says flu shots are bad. That was just the religion of stupidity.
West Virginia?
Fantastic news, if not a little surprising.
West Virgina doing something smart. Color me shocked.
Right
Finally.
Wow, some good news out of West VA!
99 percent of those are people defrauding the government
Wish this was national.
Just google it. States are actually doing this currently. Have been. I think you’re just using 30 year-old lived experience to make a claim about things occurring today.
Really? West Virginia? Hmmm, good for them I guess.
This is Oklahoma’s chance to demonstrably prove how fuckin dumb it is by making vaccines optional for k-12…ya know, because of freedom 🤡
Cause the measles is real!!!!
That’s how it should be. My dad is Mormon. He refuses to get the Covid vaccine because “I prayed about it and didn’t feel comfortable getting it”. And claims its religious exemption. No fucking part of your religion is against it dad, you’re just an idiot.
Good. Your religion doesn’t give you the right to endanger my or your own child.
A sudden outbreak of common sense.
My dad who got red pilled after becoming disabled around 2007 and sitting around listening to Alex Jones and Michael Savage etc. Pulled me aside to apologize to me when I was like 14, he told me how sorry he was that he made me get all those vaccines as a kid and told me that I should say I’m a Christian scientist to anybody in high school or college who told me to get anymore. I’m gonna be the bigger person and say it now. I forgive him for not letting me get measles. It’s been really hard to come to terms with all I missed out on because of his selfish decision to Vax me but I’ve made peace with it. Although i do get some fomo whenever I see an outbreak..
umm…wait what?! that was not on anyone’s bingo card. 😳🤣
no major religion explicitly forbids vaccines. these people are using religion as a scapegoat for their shitty politics.
GOOD
Good. If your religion doesn’t let you get medical treatment, pick a different one.
Good. I’m so goddamn tired of plague rats brazenly and willfully endangering communities.
If you wanna be part of the herd, you have to participate in herd immunity. You don’t get to act special and smarter than your community, then turn around and use that community’s resources.
It’s the fucking ICUs overflowing with COVID deniers back in 2020 all over again. You don’t want the vaccine? Then you accept the consequences of not getting it and die of measles. Find a local herbalist, since you don’t trust doctors or medicine.
West Virginia was a leader in childhood vaccinations with some of the highest rates in the United States. A few years ago some groups started lobbying for less strict vaccine requirements in public schools and more school choice which have both weakened the herd immunity that WV has built over time. This is great news for West Virginians’ public health in an otherwise bleak political landscape that has had no regards for the lives of its citizens.
Good. You can believe whatever you want, and you can do whatever you want, at home. If you want to interact in public, safety of the public trumps whatever you may believe.
Is there a typo in this title? W. VA actually protecting its residents?
Good. Antivax idiots are a cancer to society.
Vaccines aren’t the boogeyman the robber barons are
Go Go West Virginia!!!
