From reading a few articles it does seem like they adore the exposure from doing this. It’s not even about Russia. They initially welcomed them back because of some funding or bribe from Russia. Some board members tried to do it quiet. Then people noticed it and protested against it. At that point other board members were trying to correct the decision, but the people in control doubled down when seeing the huge media attention.

Some judges stepped down because of it. But it was a frantic uncoordinated move. Whoever invited Russia back won the fight. Maybe they were trying to help Russia or take a bribe. But now it’s all for media attention.

    4. Well Coalan Robertson did point it out.

meanwhile r / europe doesnt recognise independent media / reporers and only eats up the governmentslop.

„The multiyear grant was worth 2 million euros, about $2.3 million — a fraction of the Venice Biennale’s budget“

    6. Regime art is not apolitical, buddies. But i bet you are all taking Russia’s money to your wallet to look to the other side, or outright approve of what Russia has done to itself…

So yeah, the Biennale can go fuck itself this year, and whoever is colluding with Russia should be fired.

    7. We are getting closer and closer to ultra far right fascist morons and their loving for Russia.

Hoping we are not so fucked that we somehow elect the fascist Vannacci.

I recall that there were several protests over the presence of the Israeli pavilion.

Unfortunately the lost money will readily be made up by any number of Russian oligarchs

      It’s pocket change for them

There needs to be a pressure campaign to boycott this event

    10. Israel did an actual genocide with Europe’s diplomatic support and they wouldn’t even kick that fake ethnosuoremacist colony out of Eurovision.

Good. If they want the russians there, they can ask the russians for funding.

So Russia can’t have a pavilion because of the war, but Israel can? Invasion and occupation bad, genocide not so bad.

    13. Very good!!! Traitor Salvini sucked up to the Russians at the Biennale and he still is part of the Italian government
