Hier ist es durchaus üblich, den Partner erst beim formellen Treffen der Familie zum ersten Mal vorzustellen, wenn man bereits die Heirat plant. Aber als ich nach Polen fuhr, um meine Freundin zu besuchen, aß ich vom ersten Tag an fast jeden Tag mit ihrer Familie zusammen. Ich fand diesen kulturellen Unterschied wirklich faszinierend.

I have lots of friends from East Asian countries and it seems like „meeting your partners family” is a pretty big deal across the board. It’s definitely a lot more „casual” thing in Polish culture.
If they were not very different, that would be mysterious.
That’s sweet that you got to spend so much time with them!
Not gonna lie, I prefer casual meetings over formal ones. You feel like you are part of the family (even if not officially or even literally), when you can just casually eat dinner and not attend a ball.
I am half Korean, half Polish. Very true!
I think this is also common in many other European countries. Some maybe with less hospitality
