    1. **Statement Highlights:**

The latest research indicates that consuming up to 400 mg of caffeine/day (equivalent to up to 5, 8-ounce cups of caffeinated coffee per day) is generally safe for most adults and appears to be linked to a lower risk of several cardiovascular conditions, including heart failure, heart disease and stroke in some individuals.

However, higher amounts of caffeine, such as levels found in energy drinks including energy shots, may increase the risk of high blood pressure and/or irregular heart rhythm or arrhythmia.

More research is needed to better understand caffeine’s impact on the body, how different sources of caffeine impact heart health and how its impact may vary among different people, according to the scientific statement.

    2. Reading the sources titles seems to disagree with the positivity of the condensed article.

      Such as:
      American Heart Association news release:
Drinking 2 or more cups of coffee daily may double risk of heart death in people with severe hypertension (Dec. 2022)

    3. I’m struggling to believe this conclusion on the basis of why an individual would drink 5 cups of coffee. In my mind, there has to be heavy overlap with this demographic and poor sleep schedules/high stress work. Surely we have enough evidence to say those things are bad for heart health?

    4. Doesn’t increased caffeine consumption correlate with heart palpitations and anxiety? This study sounds so much like the wine industry sponsored studies that insist that it’s „good for your heart.“ It seems to contradict a lot of sound science.

I just read an article talking about how fat lipids transfer into coffee increasing your risk for a cardiovascular event. Unless you use a paper filter, you are ingesting them.

Anyone have any links to the studies on energy drinks? I just see more hate on energy drinks in this article without explaining why. It’s not hard to have an energy or two and stay below 400 and I doubt going from 400-450 is going to be the line in the sand. So any evidence or just people making stuff up again.

    7. Wait— my doctor told me to drink less coffee to lower heart disease risk. I gave up coffee!? Who do I trust?!?!1

Please do not be mislead by this article. Caffeine raises blood pressure and heart rate and very much will cause a person with heart problems some very discomforting times.

    10. I’m sure there’s plenty of downsides that come with daily stimulant consumption (especially up to 400mg of caffeine like the study suggests), but in terms of addiction and what people are taking on a daily basis it’s probably one of the least harmful options around.

    11. So ten cups is twice as good?

      Yay!

Now, if only I could fill my coffee machine – damn these shaky hands!

The yo-yo effect of the scientific studies is beyond me. I get so confused sometimes. Lately, I’ve just been looking at people who live the longest in my family or my spouse‘s family. I have watched their habits over the past several years and ask them questions. They have a balanced diet, have one drink every night before bed, drink a few cups of coffee in the morning, but most importantly, they’re social life is a very active and alive, even in their 80s and 90s. Balance is the key here.

    13. i can have like 1 and 1/2 cups without side effects now but when i was younger i could have like 5 cups and a redbull and be fine.
