U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order Monday imposing 50 per cent tariffs on a wide range of Canadian exports. The tariff is in response to Canada’s ‚retaliation and discrimination‘ against U.S. motor vehicles, dairy and alcohol, according to a senior Trump administration official.

Naturally this news has gone over like a lead balloon here in Canada. Expect further boycotts of American products and tourism to the states.
I would also note that the discourse has shifted to viewing the US as an issue long-term, regardless of whether or not the Democrats retake power. It really cannot be understated how much damage Trump has done to this relationship in such a short time.

The US and Canadian economies are so deeply integrated that a 50% tariff would basically punish businesses and consumers on both sides. Hard to see who actually wins here.
