Huh, Canada is way further south than I thought.
Doesn’t western Europe benefit from an Atlantic current which keeps things a lot warmer than here in Canada? Like Dublin, according to google gets 3°C to 5°C winters, but Edmonton can get as low as -13°C to -18°C. Just this last winter we were as low as -35 in my part of Saskatchewan. Pretty wild how different things are.
nah I think Canada is exactly as south as I think it is.
Europe is further north than most people think.
This complements the trivia that far northern Brazil (anywhere north of 4.8°N) is closer to Nova Scotia than Brazil’s south end (33.7°S).
Did anyone notice that Canada’s Arctic circle and Europe’s Arctic circle are at exactly the same latitude?

I get what you are going for, but this map looks more like Santa has acquired medium range ballistic missiles, and has decided Europe has been very very naughty.
When looking at a map of the province of Alberta I always thought Edmonton and Calgary were far apart from one another. Here they look closer

This map definitely messes with my mind. For in ’02 I went to Calgary and Edmonton (along with Ft. McMurray which was interesting) and it was the first time I’d ever seen snow in July/August. Granted, this occurred at Banff National Park and was only flurries, but still.
Following year I went to Prague in August and spent 10 days sweating to death nearly every afternoon.
What’s fun is I think Vancouver and Paris have similar climates, despite the difference across the rest of this map. Victoria likely a bit below the limit then? Vancouver Island is a bit wonky given it’s most populous area is below the 49th paralell.
