      Good idea. Helps prevent further abuse. Though only if the populace knows about the register & bothers to check it.

      Shit idea. As the US has shown with their lists. Punish perpetrators in court, not in perpetuity. Having people with violent behaviours being unable to find work or make it more difficult to be social is a horrible idea, bound to backfire.

      As for the supposed right to removal, great. So after three years an offender *might* get the chance to resume a somewhat normal existence.

      Ireland is such a crime riddled helpless case. This will just have the judges convicting even less. The gardai will continue to ignore the cases. The Dubliners will continue to say every city is like that. The culchies will continue to be ignored by the Dublin government.
